Possible exceptions
German and EU law contain different exceptions. Depending on the case, the sponsor’s residence title, illness or disability, objective inability to learn, or particular hardship may be relevant.
Useful evidence
- language courses and examination attempts
- availability, distance and waiting times
- detailed medical evidence where relevant
- the sponsor’s passport and residence status
- marriage and family-life evidence
A general statement that learning is impossible or a brief medical note is commonly insufficient. The individual obstacle must be evidenced.
